As we head into June, the farmers and vendors are bringing more and more great food to the market. We can accept credit and debit cards at the market welcome table (in the middle of the line-up) for Fresh Bucks tokens which can be used at any of the vendors. We also accept EBT/SNAP benefit cards and offer a 40% Bonus Bucks addition to purchase fruits and vegetables. Please remember that SNAP benefits can be used to purchase vegetable and herb plants as well. Vendors also accept WIC and Senior coupons.
More plastic: We are once again taking QUART and PINT plastic berry boxes for reuse by our farmers. Only clean, undamaged containers with attached lids that held whole fruit or vegetables can be reused. Other plastic containers can be placed in your recycling bins.
On Wednesday, June 11, Steve Stycos will lead a walk on Western Cranston conservation land. The 1.5 mile walk is along a newly blazed trail through oak and pine woods that feature one of Rhode Island’s northernmost wild holly trees. Meet at 6 PM at the corner of Laten Knight Road and Beechwood Drive, Cranston.
Clearing out that attic, basement, garage or graduate’s room? The market is collecting books and CDs for our annual Green Used Book Sale on Saturday June 21.
Donations can be dropped on porches at 25 Berwick Lane, 10 and 18 Williams Avenue and 37 Ferncrest Avenue in Cranston. Please, no damaged books, magazines or text books. Proceeds will finance a farm visit for school children.
The market will also be holding an E-Waste collection on the same day. “Anything with a plug” will be accepted by Goodwill Industries in the upper parking lot.
See you at the market.
