The mission of the Pawtuxet Village Farmer’s market is simple: to provide real food to real people from real farmers and other local businesses. We strive to create a sustainable, safe and secure food supply, free from corporate middlemen and questionable agricultural practices. We welcome educated consumers who appreciate the hard work and care it takes our farmers to produce the most nutritious, flavorful and chemical-free vegetables possible. We hope that you form relationships with our farmers and other vendors that foster a mutual trust and openness about the source of everything they sell. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please talk directly with the vendor or the market coordinator, or send an e-mail to pxtmarket@gmail.com.
Saturday promises to be the best day of the weekend. Come shop for the increasing bounty of summer goodness at the market, and then enjoy the rest of the day. Fireworks in Providence and Warwick, postponed from Friday, and the Bluegrass Festival at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet and Pawtuxet Park are all happening on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Congratulations to the City of Cranston for moving to improve their trash-to-recycling ratio by restricting the amount of waste per household to the 65 gallon hinged container. Extra containers will have to be leased from the city for an additional fee; bulky items will have to be scheduled for pick-up and will also cost extra. As every schoolchild knows, the first “R” of the 3 Rs of recycling stands for “Reduce”. This should encourage more folks to do just that.
See you at the market.
