Labor Day weekend is here already; celebrate the arrival of September with loads of produce from our hard-working agriculturists and their assistants: family, friends and farmhands, all contributing to put fresh, local food on our tables. Whatever you’re grilling, chicken, fish or zucchini, it came from the hands of a Rhode Island worker. We take a moment to raise a glass (local beer or cucumber water?) in gratitude.
Blue Skys Farm has a bumper crop of gorgeous flowers: dahlias, gladiolas, lisianthus, sunflowers, zinnias and more. Their extremely portable cup-holder bouquets are on sale for only $7 this week. Take home a six-pack and share with your friends.

Preserving vegetables and fruit is a great way to keep getting the most flavorful and nutritious food all winter long. Many of our farmers will provide discounted “imperfect” produce to customers who ask. It takes a little time, but freezing, pickling or canning now will provide some fine eating down the line.
See you at the market.
