Finally, the lilacs are in bloom and the opening day of the market is not far behind. We will be open on Saturday May 6 from 9 AM until Noon, at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston, 02905.
Take a stroll over and enjoy the blossoms, and when you get to the market, you will be enticed by the aroma of fresh coffee from Bolt Coffee Company, featuring hand-made doughnuts from Knead Doughnuts. Check out the array of pasture-raised meats from Weatherlow Farms, fresh chicken from Baffoni’s Poultry, gorgeous fish from The Local Catch, eggs, produce herbs and more from Blue Skys Farm, gC Farms, Pak Express and Wedgewood Flowers, local honey from Fruit Hill Apiaries, nuts and nut butters from the Virginia & Spanish Peanut Company, and cheeses made with Rhode Island milk from Rhody Fresh, all at the Market Table #1, and baked goods, including breads from Olga’s Cup and Saucer, at Market Table #2.
More vendors will be joining us as the weather warms, (and some new businesses get their legs under them). But our faithful farmers are here every week as long as the market is open, and we hope our community will continue to support their efforts. We have brought in more foods that our customers have requested, such as artisanal breads, bagels, and a coffee provider who has committed to being here every week. Please show that you you want these additions to remain by buying their products, and continue to purchase from our long-time vendors as well. Remember to ask if you don’t see an item you want, or if something has run out; we will do our best to meet your needs.
Monday May 8: Horseshoe Crab Walk. Save The Bay habitat restoration specialist Wenley Ferguson will lead a walk in Stillhouse Cove to explain cove restoration efforts and the annual horseshoe crab mating ritual. Meet at Stillhouse Cove (corner of Ocean Avenue and Narragansett Boulevard) at 6:30 pm. Rain date is Tuesday May 9 at 7 pm.
See you at the market.
