It’s strawberry time, but not for long. Soon these local sweet red fruits will be but a fond memory, so get them while you can. Kathy and Fred of Wedgewood Flowers will not be here this week, but they are bringing us more berries from their neighbors at Smith’s Berry Farm in Saunderstown, which will be for sale at the market table. Pak Express had berries last week, too, and should have more on Saturday.
And speaking of the market table, this will be the last week that Carlene Bermann will be with the market. She is moving on to (literally) greener pastures in Vermont, and we are very sad to see her go. In the 5 years she has run the market table, she has done a fantastic job of keeping it stocked and responding to customer requests, as well as being an integral part of our market team. Taking on her tasks will be Friend of The Market and Edgewood resident Kate Aubin. Stop by and bid Carlene a fond farewell; she will be missed but we wish her the best in her new digs on the shores of Lake Champlain.
Solarize Cranston will have an informational table at the market this Saturday; they will have literature about the Solarize program and the incentives for installing solar panels on private homes specific to Cranston residents. Solarize Cranston offers incentives including group purchasing discounts for Cranston residents who sign up through the Solarize program by September 8th – the more people who sign up, the lower the price for everyone. There will also be a community meeting next Thursday June 29th at 6:30 pm at the Cranston Senior Center.
See you at the market.
