The market is open, as always, every Saturday from 9 AM to Noon, at 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. We are an all-weather market
Beans are on the menu: mounds of green beans and these lovely purple beans from gC Farms (they are almost the same color as Gwen’s overalls!):
Speaking of mounds, take note of the growing masses of squash, an amazing variety of size, shape, color and texture. Take home a few different types and try some new recipes. Squash can be the stars of their own dishes, or supporting players in just about anything else you are cooking: pasta sauce, stir fry, pizza, omelets, soups or salads.
The Honey Shop will be bringing back their hummus this week. The perfect protein for a hot summer day, you can dip into it with sliced veggies or pita chips, or spread on a sandwich. Check out their dressings, infused vinegars and other goodies, and let them know what you’d like to see more of.
Solarize Cranston will be back at the market this week. Stop by and get more information about this program for Cranston homeowners. The deadline for applications is in September, so don’t delay.
And thanks to all who dropped off their styrofoam last week; another big haul of petroleum-based trash will be going to the Eco-Depot to be re-purposed.
See you at the market.
