From our fish vendor, The Local Catch:
It’s all about SWORDFISH and TUNA this week. These hearty fish are plentiful this year, which makes for great quality, great price—perfectly timed with cookout season!
For tuna, this is the lowest price we’ve ever had. Stock up! Our fish freezes very well right in the bag we sell it in.
Check out the recipes on our web site for inspiration. We’ve got lots of grilling recipes as well as everything else: http://thelocalcatch.com/ recipes/
Blueberries are also abundant now, and they seem especially sweet and juicy this year; maybe it’s nature’s way of making up for the sad strawberry season. We will have them from Barden Family Orchard at the Market Table, and Wedgewood Flowers will have berries from their neighbors at Smiths Berry Farm. Raspberries from Barden will be available as well.
Our produce farmers are bringing more veggies every week, with squash, cucumbers, radishes, beans and hearty greens on their tables. We hope to see some more tomatoes this Saturday if the weather cooperates; it’s great to see new varieties and old favorites showing up as they are ripe and ready for us.
See you at the market.
