Finally, the tomatoes (or tomahtoes, if you prefer) have arrived in their round and ripe glory. The season of enjoying the many forms of real tomatoes has just begun, and we will have our brief few months of finding different varieties each and every week at our market. Check out our farmers’ stands for the unexpected or ask about the progress of your favorites; those of us who dream all year of the unparalleled flavor of these sun-ripened local beauties are dizzy with anticipation.
Sanctuary Herbs returns with tea samples this week. Their mission statement: Sanctuary Herbs & Teas brings to you an extraordinary line of herbs whose essence enhances health, comfort and peace. We source our teas and herbs in partnership with Rhode Island’s refugee and immigrant farmers, with the goal of expanding small, local farm viability.
(The teas are also tasty and refreshing!)
Our vendors return every week to offer the evolving panoply of what’s fresh in Rhode Island, from vegetables, eggs, flowers, meat and fish to doughnuts and preserves, along with the staples of locally produced breads, baked goods, cheese. nut butters, vinegars, honey, and more. Barden Orchard will supply us with blueberries again this week (they return for the rest of the season with peaches and nectarines on August 5). How can we best describe what’s in store for you this week? It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.
See you at the market.
