The prediction is for a sunny and hot start to the day tomorrow. We look forward to leaving our umbrellas (and gloves!) at home. Our vendors will have all the fixings for your holiday gatherings and for the week to come.
It is Memorial Day on Monday, and we take a moment to reflect on the meaning of the day. To quote a market e-mail from several years ago:
“Memorial Day weekend is upon us, with its picnics, parades and the official opening of many summer recreational areas. Right here in Pawtuxet Village, we have the kick-off of the Gaspee Days celebrations with the Arts and Crafts Festival. But it is also a time to remember the all-too-many wars our nation has waged over the years, and especially the men and women who have died in those conflagrations. Many of them were farmers and small food producers who went to war to defend their way of life. We can honor their sacrifice by doing what we can to support those who carry on that heritage.”

The Honey Shop returns June 2.
Also on June 2, Goodwill Industries will be at the market to collect old electronics (working or not), clothing and textiles, and books and other media. Details will follow next week, or pick up a flyer at the market welcome table.
See you at the market.
